Where did the steel snowmobile originate? What are the rules?

Steel frame snowmobiles, also known as unmanned snowmobiles and prone snowmobiles, are an extension of traditional snowmobiles. The steel snowmobile sleigh originated from St Moritz, a small town in the Swiss mountains in the19th century. The first steel snowmobile sled race was held in 1884. Participants skate on the icy road from St Moritz to Selelina. The winner got a bottle of champagne as a reward. 1887 began to show the sleigh posture of prone snowmobiles, and 1892 was officially named skeleton. Because the shape of this snowmobile sled is similar to the human skeleton, it is also called skeleton snowmobile sled.

The steel snowmobile sled project was completed at the 1928 St. Moritz Olympic Games in Switzerland. It is divided into men's and women's competitions. St Moritz once again hosted the Winter Olympics and approved the inclusion of steel snowmobiles in the official competition. However, due to the high risk of steel snowmobile sled project, 1948 was cancelled after the Winter Olympics, which interrupted the history of the Olympic Games. It was not until the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002 that it became an event of the Winter Olympics again. The first two competitions only included men's teams, and the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics added women's teams.
