Rules for qualifying for the World Cup group stage (how to advance to the knockout stage? )

The World Cup group stage is an important stage to decide which teams can advance to the knockout stage. There are four teams in each group, and there will be a three-game showdown. According to the following rules, the top two teams will advance to the knockout stage.

Group ranking

In the group stage, each team will get three points, win one point, lose zero point and draw one point. The standings will be ranked according to the points of each team. If two or more teams score the same, they will be ranked in the following order:

1. Goal difference (number of goals minus number of goals conceded)

2. Number of goals scored

3. The relationship between winners and losers in direct confrontation

4. The number of goals in direct confrontation

5. The number of yellow cards and red cards in fair play.

If two or more teams still have the same score, a lottery will be held to decide the ranking.

Advance to the knockout stage

After the group stage, the top two in each group will advance to the knockout stage. Teams that advance to the knockout stage will be paired as follows:

-group a, first pair, group b, second.

-group b, first pair, group a, second.

-group c, first pair, group d, second.

-group d, first pair, group c, second.

-group e, first pair, group f, second.

-group f, first pair, group e, second.

-Group G, first pair, group H, second.

-group h, first pair, group g, second.

The elimination tournament will adopt the single elimination system, that is, the team that loses one game will be eliminated. If the game is tied within the regular time, there will be overtime and penalty kicks to decide the outcome.
