Has the expert group of the Disaster Reduction Committee arrived in Macau?

According to reports, at the invitation of the Macao SAR government, the National Disaster Reduction Committee organized a team of experts from various fields to arrive in Macao on September 14, which will help improve the emergency plan for major disasters.

According to the report, the head of the Macao SAR met with a 22-member expert group of the National Disaster Reduction Committee led by the the State Council Emergency Management Expert Group, including experts in the fields of disaster prevention and relief master planning, early warning, meteorology, water conservancy, construction, electricity, communication and fire protection.

It is reported that in the future, the expert group will go all out to do a good job in evaluating and summarizing typhoon disasters, do a good job in consulting and making suggestions under the leadership of the SAR government according to laws and regulations, sum up experiences and lessons scientifically and rigorously, and put forward suggestions for dealing with typhoons and other natural disasters. The Macao SAR will cooperate with the expert group to formulate plans and arrangements for short-,medium-and long-term response to natural disasters.

Experts said that inviting the expert group of the National Disaster Reduction Committee to come to Australia to guide the work is not only a response to the expectations of the general public in Macao, but also a manifestation of a high degree of responsibility for the SAR. They have made new explorations in establishing the emergency linkage mechanism between Macao and the Mainland, including summarizing and perfecting the experience of the garrison in assisting in handling major emergencies and disasters, further improving the customs clearance facilities for relief materials in emergencies, exploring the establishment of a linkage response mechanism to deal with major natural disasters in combination with the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and establishing an emergency material deployment base.
