Before the Ming Dynasty, it was called Xitian Temple. There was a monk living in a temple. Later, because the temple was an official and all the monks went, it was renamed the Western Heaven Room. Yusi is famous for worshipping Guanyin. It's been restored through the ages.

During the Cultural Revolution, Xitian Temple was once destroyed. Since 1979, the local people have been renovating. In the martial arts novel Eight Dragons, Jin Yong once described it vividly with Duan Yu: "There is a kind of camellia in Dali called' eighteen scholars', which is the best in the world. A plant has eighteen flowers with different colors. The red ones are all red and the purple ones are all purple. No half-mixed. And these eighteen flowers are all different in shape, each with its own beauty. When it opens, it will bloom together and thank each other. " In Xitian Temple, there are two rare eighteen-degree camellia plants. The largest tea tree is 3 meters high and is 220 years old. According to Jiang Limei of Dehua Forestry Bureau, it is unique in that it can produce beautiful and colorful flowers on the same plant, such as crimson, pink, white and milky white. Red and white camellias gather on a tree. In the sunshine, red and white set each other off.
According to the Records of Dehua County, these two 18-year-old Dehua Camellia were precious camellia plants brought back to Xishan Temple in Dehua in the sixth year of Qing Qianlong (A.D. 174 1).
According to forestry experts, the flowers of eighteen bachelors camellia originated in Yunnan are mostly red or crimson. Eighteen bachelors who can produce different flowers from the same plant like Dehua are rare in China. There are 100 bottles of Guanyin in Kannonji, Xitian Temple, including wood carvings, porcelain carvings and copper castings. Each bottle of Guanyin is different in size, color and lifelike. The largest Guanyin is 50 cm high and the smallest is 40 cm high. These art group sculptures are carefully carved by artists and have high appreciation value and protection value.
