1783 On September 3 (the seventh day of the eighth lunar month), Britain and the United States signed the Treaty of Paris, and the American War of Independence ended.
The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3rd, 1783, and was approved by the US Congress on September 3rd, 784, thus formally ending the Anglo-American War of Independence which broke out from 1776. Britain signed additional Versailles treaties with France and Spain. Britain recognizes the independence of the United States and must give the area east of the Mississippi River (part of which is not American territory) to this emerging country.
