Graduation thesis defense is an important link to test the quality of graduation thesis (design), the main teaching link to assess the comprehensive level of students' knowledge and ability, an important opportunity for graduates to comprehensively review, summarize and evaluate their academic achievements, and a new starting point for students to apply what they have learned.
In order to standardize the defense procedure of graduation thesis (design) in our school, the following provisions are formulated:
I. Composition of the National Defense Commission
According to the characteristics of this major, each college selects professional teachers with intermediate titles or above and higher knowledge level as members of the defense team (the defense team teachers have published at least 2 professional papers in public journals at or above the provincial level in the past year), which is composed of 3? 5 people, including 1 group leader. In addition, 1 Minister of National Defense is set to make on-site records, and the Minister of National Defense does not participate in the paper (design) review.
Second, the choice of national defense students
All graduates are required to take part in the graduation thesis (design) defense, and the defense order is decided by drawing lots the day before the defense.
Iii. Requirements and procedures for defense
1. The thesis (design) defense is held in public, and the secretary of the defense committee makes detailed records.
2. Before the defense, all colleges should tell students the defense process and basic situation, so that students can be familiar with relevant procedures and master certain defense methods.
All students are required to arrive at the defense site on time, and students who do not participate in the defense should also be present in principle. Good order must be maintained at the national defense site.
4. Respondents should dress neatly, be clear-minded, warm and generous, and be polite and elegant in the process of defense.
5. Teachers in the defense group are not allowed to ask questions about the students' papers (designs) under their guidance, and the principle of avoidance is implemented.
6. Before the defense, the instructor must write the opinions of the first trial, the second trial and the final draft in the graduation thesis (design) guidance review book.
7. General procedures for thesis (design) defense:
(1) The secretary announced the list of members of the National Defense Commission;
(2) The person in charge of the defense committee shall preside over the meeting and announce the start of defense;
(3) The secretary introduces the qualification examination of the respondent;
(4) The main contents of the respondent's report paper (design);
5] Respondents answer the required questions and the questions raised by the teachers of the defense committee;
[6] The defense committee temporarily left the defense site and held a meeting to review the thesis (design) and evaluate whether the thesis (design) passed the defense and the performance of the respondent;
(7) The person in charge of the defense committee reads out opinions and announces the evaluation and results of the thesis (design); As the end of the defense.
8. The contents of the respondent's report paper (design) mainly include:
(1) Introduce yourself
Respondents should briefly introduce their name, major, class and main research direction in a few sentences.
(2) A brief overview
Respondents should make a brief report on the following aspects: first, the background and significance of the topic; The second is the key to study the problem; Third, the countermeasures and characteristics to solve the problem; Fourth, the main arguments and conclusions of the countermeasures. A brief outline should make people have a brief and comprehensive impression and understanding of their own papers (designs).
(3) concise self-assessment.
Respondents should evaluate themselves in concise language: what is the value of the research topic? What's the improvement in understanding? What have you learned? What are the shortcomings, etc. The key is to highlight the innovation and practical significance of the article.
The self-report of the defense is generally 10? 15 minutes, the respondent should grasp the time and speak the question satisfactorily. The narrative should not be too long, tedious and empty, exceeding the prescribed time; It can't be too short, and the words don't answer, which makes people confused.
9. Respondents answered questions:
(1) 5 minutes before each respondent takes part in the defense, inform the respondent of the required questions. The required questions are put forward by the defense Committee for the content of the paper (design) before the defense of the paper (design), and the number is 2? Three.
(2) After reporting the contents of the thesis, the respondent should answer the given required questions first, which cannot be avoided.
(3) Respondents' answers to the on-site questions of the teachers of the defense committee are generally limited to the academic scope covered by the article, and the number of respondents is 2? Five.
(4) The time for respondents to answer questions is generally controlled at 15 minutes.

V. Presentation of defense results
1. Paper (Design) Voting Method of the Defense Committee
The thesis (design) defense committee votes on whether the respondent passes the thesis defense. The voting is by secret ballot, and more than two-thirds (including two-thirds) of all members agree to pass.
2. The calculation of thesis (design) defense score
The score of thesis (design) defense is given according to the respondent's performance in answering questions on the spot. Teachers should see the success of students' thesis and evaluate the score objectively and fairly. The score is divided into five grades: excellent (90? 100), good (80? 89 points), medium (70? 79 points), pass (60? 69 points), failed (below 60 points). If there are major mistakes in principle, plagiarism is serious or the concept is unclear in the defense, and the main questions cannot be answered, they will all be rated as failing.
