First, the student visa working hours limit
Student visa holders have the right to work in Australia, but they are not allowed to work more than 40 hours every two consecutive weeks during the course. Otherwise, the Australian Immigration Service may decide whether to cancel the student visa held by the student.
However, there are the following exceptions:
The work practice content included in the courses applied by students is not limited by working hours.
There is no time limit for students to work during school holidays.
Students can't work before the start of the course, that is, they can't work before the official start date of the course marked on the school's registration confirmation (coe).
If the applicant has a spouse and the applicant is studying for a master's degree and a doctor's degree, the spouse can work full-time!
Second, student attendance and performance requirements
Attendance rate: After arriving in Australia with a student visa, students must maintain full-time study of registered courses, and the attendance rate must be above 80% per semester. If the attendance rate of students is not ideal, carefully check the warning letter issued by the school and make sure that you are not absent from class continuously under your control.
Achievement: Australian schools have different learning requirements for students, some require 50% achievement, and some require 60% achievement. But in any case, poor grades are very dangerous signals, so we should deal with them in advance. Basically, every school that enrolls international students in Australia will set up a special international student counselor. For students with serious learning difficulties in the first semester, it is suggested to consult a counselor immediately or change courses or find a local immigration expert to arrange transfer.
The Immigration Bureau has set up this clause to prevent foreign students from coming to Australia for reasons other than study, such as illegal employment. As long as one of the above two requirements is not met, according to the law, the school must report to the Immigration Bureau immediately and notify the students in writing. In the letter, students will be told that they have violated the visa terms and are required to go to the immigration office to explain within 28 days after the letter is sent.
Three. Overseas student insurance in Australia
The Australian Immigration Service requires international students to always hold Overseas Student Insurance (oshc) during their stay in Australia. Students should also pay attention to the validity of their medical insurance cards and update them in time to ensure that they always hold overseas student insurance during their stay in Australia. Remember, the law stipulates that all health insurance during school should be purchased at one time.
Four, students should promptly notify the Immigration Bureau of the change of address.
Student visa holders must inform the school of their residence address within 7 days of their arrival in Australia. If the residential address changes due to reasons such as moving, you must inform the school within 7 days. If you transfer to another school or enter a higher school, you must also inform the original school within 7 days after receiving the new registration confirmation (coe).
5. Is it possible to extend the visa in China?
If the length of the course you are studying is 10 months or less, no further stay clause will be attached to the student visa, that is to say, before the visa expires, students can't apply for any visa to extend their stay in China except immigration application and work permit, including student visa extension. Students must leave Australia after the visa expires. If students want to take other courses, they must return to China to apply for a new student visa.
