Shi Niu Shan is located in the east of Dehua County, with the main peak at an altitude of 178 1 m, so it is named after a stone shaped like an ox on the mountain. Legend has it that the old gentleman on Tai Shang rode a green cow and appeared here.
The mountain is a typical and complete radial volcanic collapse basin. The peaks formed by Mesozoic volcanoes constitute rich and wonderful caves. Coupled with all kinds of myths and legends endowed by people, it adds charming colors to this natural landscape. Many stones have magic power, some are straightforward, hanging like monuments, such as city gates, some are like pen holders, such as couches, such as flowers, such as flying phoenixes and other animals. There are many caves here, with the size of 100. There are holes in the caves, which are winding. According to legend, during Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhang Ziguan, a Taoist priest from Yongtai, Xiao Langrui, a Taoist priest from Xianyou and Zhang Langqing, a Taoist priest from Minqing, fought here. Dozens of footprints, fingerprints, sword stones, anvil stones, sword-washing springs, stone basins, self-acting and other relics on the rock.
Shihu Ancient Temple at the foot of the mountain was built in Chen Geng of Ming Dynasty (164O). Burned in the mutiny of 1939. In recent years, overseas Chinese and villagers in this county have restored it. There is a dragon pool in front of the temple, and Shi Niu lies in the pool, as heavy as floating in water, with a realistic shape. Stone Niu Shan still retains the ancient "one gate", "two gates", "three gates", "longevity tower", "stone pot blessed land", "heaven" and "sitting room", as well as some illegible cliff poems and characters.
