Rules of boxing competition in ancient Olympic Games
In 688 BC, boxing was listed as a competition in the 23rd ancient Olympic Games. The competition is divided into different divisions, graded according to weight, and the opponents are decided by lot, and there is no time limit.
There were fewer rules in ancient boxing than in modern times. Boxers compete in different rounds. Unlike modern boxing, ancient boxers can continue to attack after their opponents fall. Until one of them was knocked unconscious or raised his right hand to admit defeat. The winner will draw lots again until there is one person left.
In the adult men's group and the junior group, regardless of any heavyweight or lightweight, the contestants are randomly selected.
Ancient athletes did not wear boxing gloves, but wrapped their hands and wrists with soft cowhide to show their fingers.
