The Ministry of Education, the General Administration of Market Supervision and the National Health and Wellness Committee recently issued a notice to strengthen the health and safety and nutrition management of school canteens. The notice requires that school canteens operate independently in principle, and schools that contract or entrust the operation of canteens should fully listen to the opinions of parents' committees, student congresses and faculty congresses. In addition, primary and secondary schools and kindergartens are not allowed to manufacture and sell cold meat, raw food, decorative cakes and high-risk foods such as green beans, fresh day lilies, wild mushrooms and sprouted potatoes.
Children are in a period of vigorous growth and development. They need a scientific diet and a balanced diet. Pay special attention to holidays. Compared with adults, they need more protein and fat, and enough carbohydrates to provide them with the required calories.
