Brief introduction of Chengde Buddhist temple
It was founded in the 20th year of Qianlong (1755) and completed in the 24th year of Qianlong (1759). In the 18th year of Qianlong (1753), Davatchi, the leader of Mongolian Junggar Department in Elute, provoked ethnic unrest. In February of the 20th year of Qianlong, the Qing government soldiers entered Yili in two ways, with 50,000 soldiers, and won the victory in suppressing the rebellion. In that year 10, Ganlong hosted a banquet for four nobles of Elut Mongolia in the summer resort. In order to commemorate the victory in quelling the rebellion in Davatchi and this grand event, Li Hong decided to build the Hui Zong Temple in the shape of the Samoyed Temple in Tibet, following Michelle Ye's precedent of building it in Duolun Nuoer League. In the 22nd year of Qianlong (1757), after Davatchi, the Qing government won the victory of quelling the rebellion in Amursa, Junggar, thus quelling the separatist activities between the upper and central authorities in Junggar, consolidating the northwest frontier defense, safeguarding national unity, and realizing the stable situation of "officials are willing to live in their places, enjoy their jobs and enjoy Puning forever", so the temple is named Puning Temple.
