Based on the 52-week cycle of the current world professional rankings for men and women, all the tennis players accepted by the International Network (except the invited seats confirmed by the Tripartite Committee) are qualified. The professional ranking represents the qualification system of all tennis events, and all competitions will be awarded extra points. Basically, each of these competitions is a preliminary round of the Olympic Games. Competitions held in all recognized tennis courts, whether indoors or outdoors, are the true measure of tennis performance of athletes in a calendar year.
In the tennis event of the 2008 Olympic Games, according to the recognized international singles computer ranking on June 9, 2008, 48 players will directly participate in the men's and women's singles event, with a maximum of 4 players in each Olympic Committee.
If more than 4 players from each single association/Olympic Committee are eligible to enter the singles event directly, each single association/Olympic Committee has the right to select 4 players as representatives according to the computer ranking. Players who sign up and accept to participate in singles will be automatically qualified to participate in doubles.
2. Invited seats of Tripartite Committee (IOC-National Olympic Committee-International Network Association)
In the men's and women's singles events, two invited seats confirmed by the Tripartite Committee are allocated to eligible countries (regions).
The deadline for NOCs to submit applications for seats invited by the Tripartite Committee is 2007 1 1.05. The Tripartite Committee informed NOCs in writing that the allocation of invited seats was from April to July 2008.
3. Final qualification
