After its completion, it has been called the "dream land" of Japanese young people because it has hosted the National High School Baseball League for a long time, and therefore it has become synonymous with Japanese high school baseball, representing the highest level of Japanese high school baseball events.
Extended data
Koshien undertakes high school baseball leagues twice a year, namely, the college wild ball tryouts held in late March each year (hereinafter referred to as Chunjia) and the college wild ball players' rights meeting held in August each year (hereinafter referred to as Hagar). Apart from the different holding time and organizers, the most important thing is that the competition teams are produced in different ways.
Teams in Chunjia are selected by the selection committee according to the strength and special matters in the past year (overcoming difficulties such as shortage of manpower and venues) and geographical places. Hagar divides Japan into 49 divisions, and each school can only enter Koshien to participate in the finals if it plays the preliminaries in its own division and wins the local competition.
