Zhuang Zhuyu was born in Jibei, Penghu County, and married in Kaohsiung at the age of 16. She and her husband made small achievements in engineering. Because she found that many villagers in Penghu worked as workers in Kaohsiung Port, and often had no place to live. She not only provided them with a warehouse at home, but also provided a buffet of 10 yuan, so that these dock workers could have a simple meal and have the physical strength to do their own work.
In 2005, grandma took Du to a big hospital for surgery because of knee problems. A few days after the operation, grandma was anxious to leave the hospital and said she would go back to take care of business. Du was curious: "What are you doing in such a hurry to go back? I didn't know my aunt's virtue and kindness until I got to know her deeply.
Du learned from his grandmother's report that many of his patients came from Penghu. In order to see a doctor, they will go to Kaohsiung the day before. Generally, it is too late to see a doctor, so they have to stay in Kaohsiung for another night. In other words, it takes three days and two nights for these patients in Penghu to see a doctor.
Du thought, "Since it is so difficult for Penghu patients to come to Kaohsiung to see a doctor, I might as well fly there. As a result, he began to go to Magong, Jibei, Wang 'an and other places for free consultation with colleagues in the hospital from time to time, which lasted for some time.
It is only in the past five or six years that Du has heard the word "catching a plane" at three o'clock in the patient's conversation. Upon inquiry, he learned that these patients from Penghu were anxious to catch the last flight home at night after seeing the doctor.
Seeing patients in a hurry to catch a plane, and some patients with mobility difficulties, every round trip is a big struggle. Du believes that we must find a way to solve the problem of seeing a doctor in Penghu. Therefore, since 2065438+May 2006, Yida Hospital has signed a strategic alliance with Penghu County to provide monthly on-site service.
Enlightenment of a patient's death Du went to Penghu for a free clinic every month, and later undertook the IDS project in Penghu, which was related to a patient living on the island.
The patient went to Taiwan Province Province to find Du for spinal surgery, and the postoperative condition was good. He agreed to come back every three months. However, when the other party returned, the patient's daughter appeared. It turns out that this patient has passed away.
Du was shocked. After learning this, he realized that when the patient needed the help of IDS residents for referral because of myocardial infarction, he could not find a doctor, and finally the patient died at home. The patient's daughter said to Du with a return visit sheet: "My mother told me before her death that she must personally thank Dean Du." Du was moved and inevitably regretted it.
In order to prevent similar tragedies from happening again, Du immediately instructed Yida Hospital to form a "Penghu IDS Project Working Group", which started operation on 20 17, including Yida Hospital, Yida Cancer Treatment Hospital, Hospital, Baisha Township Health Center, No.1 Health Center, Wang 'an Township Health Center and Township Health Center.
The Penghu IDS project implemented by Yida Hospital has several characteristics: First, doctors stationed in outlying islands are carefully selected, including directors, ministers and deans, which not only bring better medical services to local villagers, but also enhance the service enthusiasm of these medical elites. Secondly, Penghu people have a sweet and salty diet and lack the concept of oral cleanliness. Therefore, Yida team pays special attention to the implementation of health education and achieves the effect of disease prevention from the guidance of living habits.
In addition, the way of "staying at the local people's station" was adopted, so that medical colleagues originally from Penghu Island could go back to their hometown and stay at the station directly. In this way, their willingness to serve is higher and they are more grounded.
Du is most proud of the referral service. Whether it is from outlying islands to Magong or from Penghu to Yida Hospital, there are medical staff accompanying it all the way. Even if patients are treated in Yida Hospital, there are specialized personnel to provide assistance.
The IDS program of issuing honorary county ID cards in Penghu lasted for four years. About two years after Yida Hospital took over Penghu Island, the attendance rate of doctors increased to 90% (about 60-70% in the past), and the attendance rate of nurses was 65,438+000%, which significantly improved both patient satisfaction and referral speed.
The Penghu County Committee thanked Du for his contribution. In addition to inviting him to be the county political adviser, he was awarded the certificate of "Honorary County Citizen" on June 5, 20 17.
"From a commercial point of view, Yida Hospital can't actually make any money by undertaking IDS projects in Penghu," Du said frankly. Hospital management should not only consider profits, but also know how to accumulate happiness in order to last for a long time. And his involvement in IDS project is also instructive, letting the younger generation of medical staff know that although the medical insurance system is not perfect, it still has great care for rural people.
Du thinks a lot about medical services in outlying islands, and he also thinks far. In addition to evaluating the possibility of building a branch of Yida Hospital in Penghu, he also wants to expand the service map to Jinmen, Mazu and Lan Yu in the future to help more villagers in remote areas.
