Bajie is short for Baguan Pavilion. Buddhism refers to eight kinds of fasting methods that men and women in the family are subjected to one day and one night.
One abstains from killing, two abstains from stealing, and three abstains from lewdness. Under the temptation of nonsense, five abstains from drinking, six abstains from Koge, seven abstains from sitting in a big bed, and Bajie eats out of season.
According to Zhu Lin Fa Yuan (volume 106):
1, don't kill, care for all beings, don't hurt peristalsis and so on;
2. Not greedy, lacking charity, but greedy;
3, no lust, no chanting, practicing Sanskrit, not for evil desires;
4, no rumors, sincere thoughts, no fraud in words, and corresponding hearts;
5, do not drink, do not get drunk, to escape;
6, no peace, no flowers, no makeup, no singing and dancing;
7, no peace, not lying in bed, simple mattress, donating sleep, wrong way;
8, take the law, it is too late to eat.
These eight kinds, the first seven are precepts, and the latter is fasting, which are collectively called eight quit fasting.
