Water lilies usually reproduce by splitting underground stems. Water lilies cultured in ponds are mainly used to decorate waterscapes, pools and fountains. They are usually planted in flowerpots and then stocked in pools. Water lilies grow in pots 1 year, and underground stems and fibrous roots will be crowded with pots, so they need to be planted separately every spring, and each pot can be planted separately for about 3 pots. Branched plants can flourish in the same year. Before Tomb-Sweeping Day, the overwintering mother plants were moved to the outdoor pot, washed away the soil, and the fibrous roots were cut short. The rhizomes with 1 group buds were divided into two groups of buds, about 10 cm long, and cut off. The large pots stocked in the pond can be planted in three sections. First, spread a layer of soil on the bottom of the basin, spread a hard long-acting organic fertilizer such as feather hoof, then cover it with a layer of soil, then plant it into stem segments, fill it with soil, and cover the basin with a layer of river sand. When planting water lily with erect rhizome, its top should be above the water surface or above the basin edge. Plant it and put it in the pool at once. At first, the water in the pool should be shallow. If the water depth in the pool must be kept constant, you can put bricks or pots under the basin. As the petiole gets longer and longer, then gradually remove the basin. If you plant it directly in the soil of the pool, you don't need to transplant it separately every year. But in the second year, topdressing should be carried out, and cake manure or manure can be mixed with clay to make mud balls to dry, and then sprinkled into the pool. According to the plant growth and needs, dig it out and plant it once every 3 ~ 4 years.
Summer management is mainly to grasp the water depth smoothly, keep the water clean and change the water in time. The water change time should be in the early morning to prevent the water temperature difference between the old and new ponds from being too large, which will affect the normal growth of flowers and leaves. At the same time, combined with washing the pool, remove the rotten leaves and residual petals, but do not remove the receptacle, so as to bear fruit.
Before freezing, move the potted plants into the original pot in the cold room for preservation, and keep the pot soil moist. Water lilies wintering in the open space of the pond should deepen the water to prevent underwater freezing.
The common species of water lily in potted plants need a big pot with an inner diameter of 80 cm. In spring, a section with a length of 10 cm and a robust root diameter of 1 ~ 2 groups of buds is selected and planted in a pot with an inner diameter of 20 cm, which has an elegant ornamental effect. A small variety "Ji" bred in modern times can be cultivated in a pot with an inner diameter of 20 cm, and its leaves are small and beautiful.
