How to maintain the rear transmission of motorcycle?

Motorcycle rear transmission devices include chain transmission, shaft transmission, belt transmission, gear transmission and friction transmission, but chain transmission is generally used, and its maintenance is mainly to check and adjust these rear transmission devices.

(1) chain drive mode

In order to reduce wear, prolong the service life of the chain and keep the chain and sprocket clean, the chain and sprocket should be lubricated regularly. In general, the motorcycle should be lubricated once every 1000km. The simple way is to drop lubricating oil into the chain and turn the rear wheel at the same time, so that each chain can be lubricated.

① Cleaning and lubrication of transmission chain. After the motorcycle runs for 3000km, the transmission chain should be removed, soaked in washing oil or kerosene, and the dirt on the chain should be washed off. After cleaning, dry it with a cloth, then soak it in lubricating oil for 20 minutes or drip lubricating oil on the whole chain. Then wipe off the excess lubricating oil on the chain with a cloth, and then put the chain back into the car, as shown in figure 3-41a.

The opening direction of the chain lock should be opposite to the running direction of the chain. Otherwise, it is easy to break the chain during driving, as shown in figure 3-41b.

Figure 3-42 Check the tightness of the drive chain

② Check the tightness of the drive chain. Remove the eye hole cover on the chain box, move the chain up and down with the index finger, and check the tightness of the chain, which should generally be10 ~ 20 mm. If it does not meet the requirements, it should be adjusted, as shown in Figure 3-42. If the chain sag is too large, there is a danger of falling off; If it is too tight, it will damage the transmission system and even cause power loss.

③ Adjust the tightness of the transmission chain. Pull off the tail pin, loosen the rear wheel, axle and nut, loosen the fastening nut, and turn the adjusting nut left and right to adjust the tension of the chain. After the adjustment, lift the chain with your fingers, and tighten the rear axle nut according to the specified torque when loading, so as to reduce the movement of the chain regulator and avoid the chain tightening when tightening the rear axle nut, as shown in Figure 3-43.

See Table 3-7 for the tightness adjustment data of several motorcycle transmission chains.

④ Check the wear of the transmission chain. According to the zipper strip in the arrow direction in Figure 3-44, if the chain can be pulled to 1/2 of the sprocket tooth height, it means that the chain is seriously worn, and the chain should be replaced in time.

⑤ Check the abrasion of sprocket. Check the abrasion of sprocket, as shown in Figure 3-45. If it is found that the sprocket tooth profile is obviously worn, the sprocket should be replaced.

(2) Belt transmission mode

The rear transmission device of a few motorcycles adopts toothed V-belt transmission. motorcycle

Figure 3-46 Belt Elasticity

The included angle of toothed V-belt is generally 30. The toothed V-belt is too tight, the speed is not high, and the belt bears great tension; Too loose, the engine is difficult to start, the belt is easy to slip when working, and the wear is serious. The tension of toothed V-belt is shown in Figure 3-46.

The adjustment method of the tightness of the toothed V-belt is as follows: firstly, loosen the four M8 fixing bolts on the reducer, and then loosen the two M6 fixing bolts on the adjusting bracket of the transmission chain, so that the rear wheel can swing back and forth freely. When adjusting, the left and right distance between the rear wheel and the rear fork is equal, so do not skew. After adjustment, first tighten the fixing bolt of the reducer, then adjust the tightness of the transmission chain, tighten the fixing screw of the adjusting bracket, and finally adjust the fixing screw of the brake wire rope.

(3) Replacement and filling of gearbox oil

Park the motorcycle on the flat ground, erect the main parking frame, start the engine, and let the rear wheel idle for 2 ~ 3min. Then unscrew the oil level check bolt and oil drain bolt and drain the oil. After the spare oil is drained, install the oil drain bolt and its sealing washer and tighten it. Finally, inject the recommended oil from the oil level inspection bolt hole until the oil flows out from the oil level inspection bolt hole, and install and tighten the oil level inspection bolt, as shown in Figure 3-47.
