Nan huaijin: How did you recite Buddha before you died?

Nan huaijin: How did you recite Buddha before you died?

Where do our thoughts come from? Epistemologically, it is the role of the sixth consciousness, which is influenced by the six dusts of color, sound, smell, taste, touch and law. However, the psychological reaction of these thoughts must depend on something to exist. What is this? Qi, when you stop breathing, you can't think.

I have met some people who have studied Buddhism all their lives and ended up lying in the hospital short of breath. Others say that you should study Buddhism quickly! But I just can't read it. I can't breathe. When you watch a person die, you can't breathe. You cough on your head, relax your anus below, and release your breath. Nothing you can do can stop it. I have many such friends who have been studying Buddhism all their lives. I went to see him and told him to read Buddha, but it was very pitiful. I have been chanting Buddha for decades, but I don't understand what Buddhism is. I just think about "Amitabha, Amitabha ……". I was called chanting Buddha, and I ended up lying in a hospital bed, unable to move my mouth and doing nothing.

"Amitabha, Amitabha ..." That's the chanting number, not chanting. To really recite Buddha, you don't have to say it with your mouth, just think about Buddha in your heart, and you don't have to think about any solemn Buddha statues. It's like dying, thinking that our son hasn't arrived yet, we have to endure this tone and worry. We just need to turn the idea of missing our son and lover into Buddha. Unfortunately, how many people have been chanting Buddha all their lives has never been clear. If you ask him to recite Buddha, he won't, will he? Because his breath is gone, "ah, ah" can't come out, but he can't pick it up. But I asked him to recite Buddha, and he shook his head and said he couldn't read it. At this moment, he thought of Buddha! How can you say that you don't understand?

So pay attention! Let's not ignore the words "constant work is thinking". It doesn't mean that once you understand this truth, you can do things well with this idea and idea, which requires practical efforts. Persistence is mindfulness, and mindfulness equals Buddha's mindfulness. I have always been very concerned about this matter in my heart. For another example, my parents are seriously ill and dying, but I have to work and socialize outside. Although I miss my family when I am dealing with things or talking, I don't think about him deliberately. My thoughts are always in my heart. This is called "missing". To recite Buddha is to recite Buddha in your heart and stop Buddha, not to shout "Amitabha, Amitabha" in your mouth.

Sort out the introduction.

A true man of practice, his mindfulness existed before his death. For example, a person who practices tantric Buddhism, or a person who practices pure land Buddhism, looks at Amitabha. When he arrives at this place, he can't pronounce it in his mouth, his strength is gone, and his consciousness is scattered. But his belief, whether he will die or not, just thinks of a Buddha statue and thinks that this mindfulness of the Buddha exists in his heart. Take Christianity as an example, it must be saved and resurrected. This is called chanting Buddha, not chanting Buddha in your mouth.

So say to people who don't understand: "You are chanting Buddha at this time!" Many Buddhists replied to me, "Alas … old … teacher … I can't read … Come …" I said, "You are so stupid! Why are you talking to me? You talk to me, this is reading! To recite Buddha is to have a Buddha in your heart, not to recite Amitabha in your mouth. " But he doesn't understand, and his consciousness is not strong enough. Therefore, we can see that many people who study Buddhism, whether they study Tantric Buddhism, Zen Buddhism or Pure Land Buddhism, are not sure in the end and can't be the master. We use four words to criticize, which is called "the waves die and the waves are white." Although I became a monk, studied Buddhism at home and believed in other religions, I lived in vain all my life and couldn't be the master until I died. Therefore, many people who believe in Buddhism have not benefited.

The beginning and end of life

Pay more attention to those who read Buddha and practice pure land! You are just reciting the Buddha's name now, and at the end of your life-when you die, you can't pronounce the Buddha's name if you mispronounce it. The so-called chanting Buddha does not mean chanting Buddha in your mouth! But an idea, a shadow. Now, no matter whether you look at Amitabha or avalokitesvara, you just need to have this image in a daze. Don't ask clearly yet. Practice first, and at the end of my life, my thoughts and delusions can't get up. This image formed by the seed of Araille knowledge is still there. At that time, the "Big Four" broke up and the body died. This image is clearer and equal to the body in the dream. So now that you are used to practicing, you will naturally go to the west and the pure land in the future. This is chanting Buddha.

When you look at "Amitabha" or "Avalokitesvara", you can keep this image in your mind. Whether walking or eating, you can do other things while watching. Think naturally anytime, anywhere. You got it? The so-called visualization is not viewed with the delusion of the sixth consciousness! It is the present situation of the sixth consciousness, the root of the seventh consciousness and the image of the function of the eighth consciousness.

So most people say to me, "Oh, dear! You are Zen and I am Buddha. " Fuck you! Do you know the Pure Land? This is the original practice of Pure Land. Please read the book Watching Endless Life. Do you think what I said is wrong? Usually you don't understand, but I do. That is, you don't practice! You don't understand unless you prove it.

When it comes to thoughts, we only know that thoughts in our hearts are thoughts, but we don't know that even the four major places, fire, water and wind are born of one thought, and they are all derived from this thought. This idea is karma. If the idea can be turned, the karma can also be turned. So Zen lost its mind and realized this idea, which is five yin and eight senses. Cultivation is to cultivate this, not just the sixth consciousness. Six senses come and go, and you can't learn Zen if you don't understand seven and eight senses!

We usually have only a little awareness in our hearts, which is part of the sixth consciousness. Far from it! At the end of your life, when you are scattered, your usual purity and kung fu will not be used, because a single sixth consciousness will not play any role. When the baby is born, the sixth consciousness is no different, and it is useless to be confused when you are old. However, the seventh and eighth senses are still working. You should know this. So, when he died, you told him to recite Buddha, and he said, "No, no!" " Really dying, but how can you still talk? At this time, the sixth consciousness is distracted and can only play a part. So, if you can't even read the seventh and eighth knowledge, then what Zen do you study and what books do you read!

Organized from "Meditation Video" and "How to Practice Dharma"

Most people can't see the problem of life and death. When they are sick, they are not only timid, but also cry, which makes their relatives and friends who are taking care of them jumpy. When I died, it was even more upside down and very painful. He can't make his own decisions, which drags others down. We only learn Buddhism to break through the limitation of life and death and get rid of the pain of reincarnation from generation to generation.

Some friends, really dying, I went to see him when I was dying, and the family cried around the hospital bed. I said, brother, recite Buddha! The patient is very weak. Sadly, he can't remember. I said, why can't I remember? Haven't you studied Buddhism for decades? However, if he can't understand it, he can't understand it. I said you can still talk, and he said yes. I'm talking to you now. Hey! Isn't this it? If you can talk, why can't you read Buddha? And I said no, I wouldn't say it again. I told him to recite Buddha, but he said he couldn't recite Buddha. In fact, he already recited Buddha. I caught this idea, but unfortunately I don't understand this concept at ordinary times.

The patient said no, no, you said he was dying? Really can't. I can make it clear why I can't change my mind and become a Buddha. You should pay attention to this key. Speaking is the same as chanting Buddha. What's the difficulty? I only blame ordinary Buddhist chanting, and I am very confused about what Buddhist chanting is, and I missed the opportunity to live in the West in vain.

What is reading? Reading can sometimes represent the heart. Our life can be divided into two parts, physical feeling and ideological perception. Together, the two are mind and mind. As we know, Buddhist scriptures often say "between thoughts". What is between thoughts? Those of us sitting here, we don't practice kung fu, we breathe naturally, or we die without breathing. As soon as the breath is exhaled, it does not come in, or it is inhaled without exhaling, and life will die. Breath comes and goes, and it comes and goes, and this life is alive. Life is a breath. Inhale and exhale, according to Buddhism, it is called an idea, which is still relatively rough. How many feelings and thoughts does this rough idea contain in one breath? According to the Buddhist scriptures, there are 84 thousand troubles between thoughts. It depends on whether you understand. Buddha will never lie. Buddha is a real talker, a real talker, a talker and a liar. For example, our pulse beats more than seventy times a minute. How many thoughts live and die in each beat? Many, many, but ordinary people themselves are unaware of it.

Then, I want to ask you, you just don't have the name Amitabha in your mouth. You want to die and go to the west, but in fact there are so many delusions of life and death in your heart, and you are not really thinking about Buddhism. Is this ok? Therefore, chanting Buddha will never be in vain, but it is not easy for those who muddle along to have an effect. We recite Buddha, but we don't know what it means. This is self-deception and disappointment.

So, what is the idea of chanting Buddha? Now, for example, you owe someone a debt, and you promised to pay it back at 3: 30 tomorrow, but you really can't pay it back tomorrow. At this time, you are sitting here chanting Buddha, and your heart is hanging. It's 3: 30 tomorrow. What are you going to do? That's really worrying, worrying, and obsessed. My whole heart is hanging on it and I can't forget it. This kind of reading is what we need to read Buddhism. Another example is young people falling in love and pursuing the opposite sex. Although sitting here listening to the class, I still think of him (her) in my heart. Now, I don't know where I am Do what? Sitting here like this, my heart is on tenterhooks, and my whole thought is occupied by the shadow of the other party. I can't get rid of it every time I think about it. This is missing, and so is chanting Buddha. We think about Amitabha every day, and we think about him all the time. We don't even have the name of these four or six words. It is right to just hang this idea-Buddha-in our hearts and become a habit.

Han Yu's two sentences are very reasonable: "Call your parents if you are poor." . A person is poor and has no money to dress and eat. When you have no choice, just shout my god! Sometimes, I accidentally get hurt, or I am hurt by someone, which is extremely painful. Oh, my mother, naturally. When people are in an emergency, this strong desire for dependence is the foundation for us to recite Buddhism and survive in the West. Reading with this mentality is the real Buddha reading.

At this time, chanting Buddha does not necessarily have the name of "there is no Amitabha in the south". Until the serious crisis, Amitabha disappeared, only the concept of Amitabha hung, and the concept of a Buddha was deeply imprinted in my heart as a support. If you are dying, you will decide to go to the west with this idea, and the lotus will be reborn. If we don't understand this truth and want to recite the name of Amitabha, it will never come true. Because you are chanting Buddha with a scattered heart, every word and sentence is a method of birth and death. Life and death are chaotic.

When we recite the Buddha, we must recognize this concept and miss it wholeheartedly, instead of just reciting the Buddha's name. What is reading? Arouse an image in your mind that you will never forget. "I don't forget it, and remembering is sex." This is reading. Most people recite the Buddha "there is no Amitabha in the south", but they just recite it in their mouths and don't even care. Reading, you need to keep it in mind at any time, remember it at any time. This is the real reading. The focus of practice is mindfulness, which should be turned into a habit, not sloppy, but pure. When you learn to meditate and practice meditation, you should understand a truth. Meditation is a very common thing. Just give your body a rest. The state of meditation is a mental effort. As for pneumatics, pulsations and special functions, they are nothing. It's like if you light a candle, black smoke will come out next to it. If you regard black smoke as light, it's all wet.

It is compiled from "Ding Hui Chu Xiu" and "Dialogue of Modern Buddhists' Practice".

Here is a meditation for everyone. When you are sick, you should remember something. This kind of thought is not thought, but it is inseparable from thought, so it is called missing. It has such a function that it can exist without the body. You have had a high fever. I don't think about anything when I am in a daze. But, you know that you are sick now, that's called thinking. We are sitting here thinking about delusion, not reading. By the time he died, there were no Amitabha and Amitabha in the South China, but the idea had to be hung up.

Missing can also be said to be acacia, which is acacia in a broad sense, not just between men and women. Your mentality of speculating in stocks and getting rich is also a concern. You always care about the price of stocks. Have you thought about it? No, but I can't let it go at any time. This is acacia, that is, missing. You can turn this idea of love and stock trading into chanting Buddha, and you can realize it.

This idea has come true. When the body is divided into four parts, you let go of the body and make it miserable, but you must grasp this idea and wipe it clean in an instant! In an instant, it's like a turtle taking off its shell and flying into the sky. This idea has been strengthened, and there are no immortal people in the western paradise. Most people study Buddhism all their lives and don't know the idea when they die. Because of the pain of the body or the burning of brain cells, there is no way to string together Amitabha Namo, but those who can recite the Buddha's name can just read this, and there is no need to string each string together. You have seen the image of Amitabha, and at that moment, it was like this. If you can do this, even if you don't go to another life, you will be beautiful and smart when you come back, and you will never degenerate. Thinking at this time is not ignorance or delusion.

There are flowers and rain everywhere in Vimalakīrti.
