If foreigners come to Beijing again, it is not impossible for Guangxu to make a comeback!
This is the death of Cixi. Cixi certainly won't:
"If you fight, you will die."
"You're dead, isn't it better to die in World War I?"
"If you don't work hard to survive, it will be an eternal shame; If it is a big slap in the face, it will be a showdown. "
For a time, the establishment that supported Cixi vowed to fight with foreigners to the death!
So there was a letter from Cixi to conquer the world.
It is an established fact that the Qing soldiers are incompetent. In order to wrestle with the great powers, Cixi thought of the Boxer Rebellion.
Because the Boxer Rebellion has a slogan: Help the Qing Dynasty to destroy the foreign countries.
Just do what you say, recruit the Boxer immediately, and then the capital will open its doors to welcome the members of the Boxer.
But Cixi, an old fox, left herself a retreat and declared war for many days. Even the embassies of the powers were not breached, and only the Boxers were allowed to fight the powers!
Then the powers took the opportunity to attack on a large scale.
1June 900, Eight-Nation Alliance's war of aggression against China started.1August 4, Beijing fell again! Wherever the allies go, they kill, set fire, rape and plunder. Commander-in-Chief Wardsey also admitted: "The details of the damage and robbery suffered by China this time will never be found out, but it is of great significance."
190 1 year, the Qing government signed the "treaty of shame and ugliness" with foreign powers, and 40 million China people paid a silver or two for it, totaling 450 million yuan.
However, Cixi, an old woman, did not hate the powers after she came back from exile. On the contrary, she was glad that she had not been censured and dismissed by the great powers, and said a famous saying: "Measure China's material resources and win the favor of the country."
