Later, after Monk Wenxi realized the Tao, Manjusri Bodhisattva appeared to see him while cooking. Monk Wenxi hit him with a spatula and said, "Manjusri is Manjusri, and Wenxi is Wenxi. What are you doing here? " Manjusri Bodhisattva smiled at the sky and said,' Bitter gourd has bitter roots and sweet melons. The three great robberies of spiritual practice were suspected by the old monk. "
This represents a Zen dialogue and a realm of practice. Bitter gourd is bitter because of its roots, and melon is sweet because of its roots. I have a clear understanding in my heart, but there is no lasting contamination. No matter whether the Buddha comes, the devil comes or the bodhisattva comes, I have no persistent heart, just as the Diamond Sutra says: everything is illusory, and the Buddha cuts the Buddha and the devil cuts the devil! Even if Manjusri Bodhisattva appears, I don't have any greedy thoughts!
This is Manjusri Bodhisattva praising Master Wenxi. He really realized!
