brief introduction
In August 2005, Ye Nan and eight other teammates went to Haiyuan County, Xihaigu, Ningxia Autonomous Region, and started a one-year teaching work. Ye Nan was transferred to Xi 'an Township Middle School in Haiyuan County. This is a township-level junior high school located in the Loess Plateau. Not only is the premise of school education backward, but the living conditions are also very different from Xiamen. The annual precipitation here is less than 300 mm, but the annual evaporation is as high as 2000 mm. The water used by more than 700 teachers and students in the school is all a little water pulled from the local area by a forklift. The geographical environment adjacent to the desert makes sandstorm day a simple meal. In the weather of minus 20-30 degrees in winter, Ye Nan and his students endure the cold and frostbite without heating equipment. In summer, everyone adapts to the dry life without bathing for more than a month. Diarrhea and nosebleeds have become a compulsory course for Ye Nan every week. The chapped skin and rough and unpalatable food also made Ye Nan feel the West.
While overcoming many difficulties, Ye Nan took many jobs in Xi 'an Anxiang Middle School, including two years as an assistant to the Political and Educational Affairs Department, a counselor of the Youth League Committee and a biology and physical education teacher, and served as a tutor for all subjects of liberal arts during evening self-study hours. The heavy academic work has also given Ye Nan a stage to give full play to what he has learned and what he has learned in the human resource management discipline in the university. He sponsored Xi 'an Middle School to formulate many rules and regulations, and helped the headmaster to make the school management develop in the direction of standardization. Ye Nan participated in the campus construction plan and participated in the "Nine-Year Plan" of Ningxia with local teachers and students. In the second classroom, many literary movements were opened up, many fresh knowledge and ideas were integrated into the classroom, and many special lectures were given in other schools in Haiyuan County. Ye Nan led and trained the Xi 'an Middle School team and won the second place in Haiyuan County Legal Knowledge Competition. As a young teacher, Ye Nan was not only quickly accepted by the students in class, but also became bosom friends with them after class. He asked to live next door to the student dormitory and insisted on answering questions with students every night. One year's teaching work has helped Xi Anxiang Middle School to undergo great changes.
Ye Nan and his teammates visit students' homes every weekend. Ye Nan's footprints are all over almost all natural villages in Xi 'an Township. Villages in the west are scattered and evacuated, and many places need to walk for nearly ten hours. Moreover, the teaching team members who have no classes often suffer from the test of getting lost and sandstorms, and the temperature difference of up to 40 degrees between day and night makes them freezing. However, it is an unshirkable responsibility for students to visit their families. Through personal visits to many poor children's families, I know that they are overwhelmed: some children have lost their parents Ding Lingling since childhood, some families only have a few hundred yuan a year, some children still live in simple caves, and some children only have five dry buns a week ... The painful pressure of survival not only makes Ye Nan cry, but also shakes Ye Nan's determination to do a good job in teaching in the west.
For the author,
Ye Nan, male, party member of CPC, producer party of China. Since 200 1 was admitted to Xiamen university school of management, I have been working hard and enthusiastic about social welfare undertakings. Since joining the Volunteers Association of Xiamen University School of Management on 200 1, I have been insisting on participating in various volunteer activities. Now he is a registered youth volunteer in China. During my stay at school, I got excellent grades and won many school-level scholarships and school-level reputation. He also served as the core director of youth propaganda of Xiamen University and the deputy secretary of the General Party Branch of Xiamen University School of Management, and participated in organizing large-scale activities such as the "Challenge Cup" China University Entrepreneurship Competition. While studying in the university, Ye Nan gradually learned about the difficult living conditions of children in the west, especially Xihaigu (Xiamen University counterpart support area) in Ningxia, which was called "the most unsuitable area for human survival" by the United Nations Food Development Agency. As a native of the East, Ye Nan has a burning and firm feeling for the northwest of the motherland. Years of volunteer experience and the sense of responsibility of a party member drove Ye Nan to apply for the senior year without hesitation. Before going to the west for teaching, Ye Nan participated in the "Faraway" charity sale and "Faraway" photo exhibition organized by the teaching group of Xiamen University, and together with his teammates, he raised tens of thousands of yuan of material resources for the west.
book review
This book reflects the mental journey of Ye Nan's students in carrying out the practice of teaching in the west in a difficult environment, that is, honing their progress in service, watering what they know with love, cultivating flowers to be released with responsibility, expressing their willingness to contribute with actions, and vividly expressing the joy of beginners, the pure feelings of teachers and students, the pride in facing the progress of students, and the touching feelings of caring for the west, cherishing family business and breaking the will to serve the country with real life of youth.
There is a place that you can't understand deeply if you haven't been there; There is a kind of life, without recess, you have no choice but to imagine it in detail; There is an emotion that you can only feel if you have experienced it.
Originally, I thought the title "Keep Dreams" was too general, but once I tasted it, I felt heavy and just right. Don't be sentimental about your own nation before your dreams are extinguished. I really sympathize with those children in the west and have become sacrifices of various interest groups. Sometimes I really wonder if "common sense can change luck" is only said to children in cities ... Indeed, children in rural areas have the opportunity to listen to this sentence, but this opportunity is too little for them, and social inequality and the widening gap between the rich and the poor have to cause meditation. But how many people can really feel this gap? Nominal cooperation cannot hide the fact of erosion. How many people are extravagant and wasteful, and it is a luxury to think that someone will be embarrassed when giving a banquet? On the one hand, most children have lost the opportunity to see the world with their peers because of the lack of accurate channel guidance. Television, newspapers, not to mention magazines, are scarce luxuries in many places; On the other hand, some children get lost in informal Internet cafes. The outside world is too excellent, the colors on the Internet are too cruel, and the colorful temptations confuse their will. Although they only have a few cents of change every week, they are still paralyzed in the online world without thinking, and the good times are lost in their inner senses. "The realistic record in the book makes human flesh ache.
