Historically, the Tang Priest's Buddhist scriptures mainly happened in the Li Shimin era. In Wu Cheng'en's records, Tang Priest always went through eighty-one difficulties, and even a group of immortals were around to help him. But in fact, in the real calendar "Historical Records", the Tang priest went to Tianzhu, that is, India itself embarked on the road of learning from the scriptures. But both novels and real historical events were successful in the end. The Tang Priest returned to the Tang Dynasty and began to spread Buddhism to all beings.
However, the Tang Priest did not live as long as recorded in the novel. The Tang Priest saved the world all his life and turned over to the world, but he died in 664 AD. The mausoleum is now in Xi 'an. Later, in order to remember the kindness of the Tang priest, his remains were sent to the Huguo Temple in Tang Dynasty. The Tang Priest is highly respected among the people and deserves to enjoy incense. However, at the end of the late Tang Dynasty, the people in the world were impoverished and rebelled everywhere, resulting in no bones of Tang Priest.
Now, there are two real mysteries about Tang Priest. First, what was the real cause of Tang Priest's death? Secondly, where are the missing bones? The Tang Priest in history was not recorded in the novel, and was regarded as a brother by Li Shimin.
In fact, in the novel, Tang Priest died when he was in Du Lingyun, and all the dust had to be washed away before he went to the Western Heaven, so when Tang Priest boarded the Western Heaven Temple, he had become a golden cicada, which means that Tang Priest was dead at that time.
However, the Tang Priest in history was not recorded in the novel, but was regarded as a royal brother by Li Shimin. The emperor was suspicious, and Li Shimin was no exception. Although Buddhism appeared in the Central Plains in the Eastern Han Dynasty, in the Tang Dynasty, that is, during the reign of Li Shimin, he first worshipped Buddhism and then became a believer. Although Buddhism has the function of being a boudoir, it is not respected in Li Shimin, so when the Tang Priest asked to go to India for Buddhist scriptures, Li Shimin didn't agree. As a result, everyone knows that Tang Priest really went to the Western Heaven to learn Buddhist scriptures, but when Li Shimin didn't agree at that time, Tang Priest's move was equivalent to smuggling.
At the same time, Li Shimin didn't trust Tang Yan very much because he was easily rebelled by other countries after going through many countries, so it was very easy to steal the country in Li Shimin court. Therefore, when the Tang Priest returned to the Central Plains, although he had been devoted to all beings, he was under the surveillance of the imperial court and the whirlpool of power because of Li Shimin's distrust.
Because of the hardships in the journey to learn the scriptures, long-term camping has completely destroyed the body of Tang Priest. At this time, the disciples of the Tang Priest had noticed the collapse of the pagoda and asked the master to interpret dreams. According to the Tang Priest, he actually realized that his life would soon be over. So after this day, Tang Priest's situation went from bad to worse. But he died a few days later.
Although Tang Priest did not win the trust of Li Shimin in the end, he preached all his life, so some people still have a high reputation among the people. Unfortunately, in the later period of the court turmoil, the whereabouts of Tang Priest's bones were unknown.
According to reliable sources, it was the Japanese government that got the bones of Tang Priest in the later period. Because the treasure is precious, Japan ordered not to reveal any news, but it was still known by the puppet government. After negotiation, the skull was finally divided into three parts. In other words, these three places are actually under the names of Japan and the puppet government of Wang, and the other one is buried in Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing.
Only after the founding of New China, because the skulls were too expensive, the two skulls preserved in China were divided into four parts, which were placed in Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Chengdu. Because Tang Priest got Buddhist scriptures from India at that time, China gave one of his skulls to India to show his friendly relations with India.
It can be seen that the bones of Tang Priest actually went to three places. First, they are Japanese, second, they are Indians, and the rest are China. Tang Priest was a highly respected monk at that time. He preached Buddhism in good faith all his life. For people at that time, he was a rare monk, so it is understandable that future generations attach importance to Tang bones.
Tang Priest's life goal is to help all beings, because he has been in Buddhism all his life, and his natural body is also contaminated with Buddhism, which can be regarded as essence. Therefore, people think that the temple where the bones of Tang Priest are placed is the most effective place. I believe that if Tang Priest is still alive, today's result is what he wants.
Tang Priest believed in Buddhism all his life, and his main task was to help the world. He had been translating Buddhism and praying for peace until his death.
